My husband and I recently moved form Scottsdale, AZ to Glenview, IL and had an unbelievably positive home-buying experience because of Pam Raia. Before our home search even began, Pam Raia called us to introduce herself as our North Shore realtor. She asked our home-buying needs and wants. She also began personalizing our experience by getting to know our family. She immediately created a Baird & Warner portal for screening houses which met our criteria. When I had questions regarding homes, Pam was extremely knowledgeable. She offered to drive by and find out more information about homes we were especially interested in. When I asked about school district boundaries, Pam visited two high schools in different districts to get maps for me. She mailed those maps to me, as well as laminated maps of the North Shore. Since we were searching for homes in two different areas of Chicago, we had to work with two different real estate agents. Pam took the lead and coordinated my week-long house-hunting trip with the other realtor. Pam was so accommodating during our three days of viewing houses together. She picked me up each day and made sure I was well informed about each home we visited. She adjusted to the pace I desired. There were several homes each day that my husband joined us to look at in the late afternoon. Pam worked very hard to schedule second showing appointments and accommodate our schedules perfectly. After I returned to Arizona, Pam followed up immediately with additional information I had requested about the homes I was most interested in. We decided to put an offer in on a house and Pam worked very late on a weekend night to properly word our offer. Pam was diligent about keeping informed and answering questions throughout the attorney review phase, some of which were beyond the scope of what she needed to do as a realtor. She went above and beyond, to say the least. She was in touch with our real estate attorney. She answered questions presented by our mortgage broker. Pam was present for our entire home inspection, which took six hours. She also arranged to have a paint consultant meet me during the inspection and only later did I find out that Pam paid her out of her own pocket! After we closed on the house, we had one week before we moved in. During that week, we had the interior of the house painted and the wood floors refinished (by a fantastic contractor recommendation by Pam.) Each day of that week, Pam drove to our new home at 8am to let workers in and back at 5pm to lock the house and set the alarm. AFTER THE CLOSING!!! Since I moved to my home from an apartment 22 years, I had never sold a home before so I knew I needed a professional. After going blurry-eyed looking at realtors on sites such as Zillow, Realtor, Trulia, and reading the neighborhood papers, I realized this is my largest sale I will ever make and I need to treat it as a major business decision. I did not want to hire family or a friend as a realtor simply because, well, I liked them. I was not sure that I could ask them the tough questions or handle constructive suggestions on my home from a friend or family member.
